Cheryl, Doug and Carlton
Los Gatos, CA.

Hello,
We adopted our son Carlton on August 5, 1997, the day he was born. Our lives changed forever that day. Bringing him into our home, caring for him, watching him grow and develop his own personality have been a fantastic experience for us. We believe God entrusted him to us, and we can scarcely imagine our lives without him. Although we have had precious little contact with his birthmother, there is a bond between her and us - she gave him the gift of life and health he now enjoys. We will never forget that, nor the awesome responsibility we have been given. Adoption has blessed us, and we would like to adopt another child.

Carl is now approaching 3 years of age, and he is growing rapidly in every sense of the word. He is a very much a normal, intelligent, happy boy for whom every new day is an adventure. His interests include his trucks, toys, storybooks, and playing outside. As a matter of fact, he wants to get involved in just about anything daddy is doing, especially if there are tools involved. He is good-natured and easygoing, and loves the company of other children. We think Carl would be a great big brother.

We are a married couple bound by our love, friendship, and lifelong commitment. We are Christians, and have a deep relationship with our Lord, Jesus Christ. Ours is a solid marriage that will allow children to grow up in a happy, loving, and stable environment. Our sense of home and family is strong, and we want to share this with children.

Once our son was born, Cheryl resigned her position at work, and became a full-time mother. This has always been her desire, and we feel it is best for children to have a parent at home. She enjoys reading the latest bestsellers, packing a lunch and going on a day hike in the local mountains, trout fishing in a mountain stream, trying out gourmet recipes on Doug, and decorating her new home. Cheryl also loves animals, and her pets include an Amazon parrot, two Rhode Island Reds, and two Barred Rock hens. She has two brothers, one married and the other single. They have vacation homes in Hawaii and Lake Tahoe; it's fun to visit them on vacation.

Doug is an Electrical Engineer, working in the wireless industry. He holds 2 engineering degrees, and would like to complete a third someday. Like Cheryl, he has always loved to read. He enjoys the outdoors, world affairs, and working on various projects around the house. All of the renovations on our previous homes were done by Doug himself; he's pretty handy to have around. Doug also enjoys weight lifting to keep fit and has his blue belt in Karate. He is the youngest of four children, and he has nieces and nephews that are now starting their own families. One nephew lives close by, and has a son the same age as Carl. We get together for BBQ's, playdays, and swimdays when the weather is nice.

We have owned our home in Los Gatos, California for a year. Built on a acre lot on a cul-de-sac, it is a semi-rural setting in the Santa Cruz mountains. In one direction, we are minutes from Silicon Valley, and in the other direction, minutes from the Pacific ocean. Our property includes towering redwoods, a stream, two large decks, and a chicken coop. We have already set aside a nursery that overlooks our sunny backyard. Our neighborhood is quiet and well-established, with several young families and children.

As parents, we believe children grow up the most happy and secure when they are accepted and loved unconditionally for who they are and allowed to develop their own strengths. Both of us had parents who spent a lot of time with us - reading, music and tennis lessons - but allowed us to develop our own interests. We appreciate this, and value spending a lot of time with our children. We were also raised with Sunday school, music, dance, outdoor activities, travel, literature, arts and crafts, and pets. Our values are traditional ones, and we believe children learn the deepest values by example. We want to give our children all of our love, support, and stability so they can grow up with self-esteem, confidence, a sense of humor, and a warm, loving heart. We believe there lies a bright future ahead for children brought up with these values.

We can only imagine the difficult decision you are trying to make at this time. We hope that you can look into your heart and trust the Lord's guidance to help you make your choice. We would like to be that special couple you could entrust the future of your child, and await the opportunity to open our home and hearts to you.
