(Note: Santa, while a close friend, is not actually part of our family.) We have been happily married since 1993. When we adopted Christian at birth in 2000, it was the happiest moment for both of us and changed our lives completely. We love him so very much, and we are very excited about adopting another child and showering him or her with love, too. We want this very much! Being parents is our greatest joy and most important responsibility. We are very close with our extended family, and we believe relationships with family and friends are very important. We love God and thank Him for the many blessings in our lives. We are active in our church, Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church. It has many programs for children such as Sunday School, Greek folk dancing and athletics. We teach our son that God loves all children and watches over them. Chris is a Certified Public Accountant. He works very hard and has made our family financially secure. His main job is at Stanford University where he is the Director of Tax Compliance, but he also works at home, doing taxes and financial planning for his own clients. He also teaches classes at Stanford. Chris loves to golf and work out at the Peninsula Golf and Country Club where we are members. We look forward to enrolling our children for golf lessons there! Chris wants our children to have the best education possible. He loves reading to Christian at home and offering lessons on his favorite subjects like math and science. Chris serves on our church's parish council and is also its treasurer.Eva is a full-time Mommy and couldn't be happier. She is grateful that she can stay at home and raise our son, and she anxiously awaits the day when she will have another child to love and raise. Eva enjoys teaching and playing with Christian at home with books, the computer, music, toys and lots of love. She takes our son on trips to the park, museums, library and visits with friends. She makes sure he eats well, plays hard and puts his toys away (well, sometimes). Eva has not been able to instill a love for shopping in Christian, but she's still working on it! Eva also enjoys helping at our church with Christmas programs and Greek festivals. Because of her love of children, she especially likes helping with the youth music and drama programs. Eva used to be a radio and TV journalist. She enjoys writing, aerobics, computers and movies, and she wants to share these with our children, too. Music is very big in our home! We both had piano lessons when we were young and have been singing since we were kids. We enjoy singing in our church choir and at home with Christian!
Along with introducing our child to the joys of hamburgers, we also plan to introduce him or her to many other wonders: playing on the swings at the park, climbing all over the big toys at Gymboree class and reading about the incredible adventures of many storybook characters from Huckleberry Finn to the Cat in the Hat. Christian attends Bing Nursery School at Stanford and will soon attend Kindergarten in Woodside. He enjoys listening to stories, playing games on his computer and playing with his dinosaurs and other toys. He is learning to read, write and do simple math problems.
We think it is important to guide and nurture children as they grow, but also to let them become who they are by encouraging them as they develop their own special God-given talents. Most of all, we intend to provide lots of love for our new child. We look forward to holding the baby, singing to him or her, feeding time, playtime and yes, even changing time! Christian is also excited at the idea of a younger sibling, and he urges Mommy and Daddy to "hurry up and bring the baby!"
